Confidential Employees

Students and employees may report alleged sex discrimination to Confidential Employees.  Confidential Employees are prohibited from reporting actual or suspected sex discrimination or retaliation to the Title IX Coordinator in a way that identifies those involved. Instead, a Confidential Employee will provide the Title IX Coordinator’s contact information, explain how to make a complaint of sex discrimination, and that the Title IX Coordinator may be able to offer and coordinate supportive measures.

Pregnancy and Related Conditions Rights

Title IX specifically prohibits discrimination against a student or employee based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, lactation, and medical conditions and recovery related to these conditions. Under Title IX, the College is prohibited from excluding a pregnant student from participating in any of its educational programs. The College must offer reasonable modifications for a pregnant student, but cannot force the student to accept a particular modification. The College must excuse a student’s absences because of pregnancy or childbirth for as long as the student’s doctor deems the absences medically necessary. When the student returns to school, they must be allowed to return to the same academic and extracurricular status as before their medical leave began, as College operations allow and are available. Any special services provided to students who have temporary medical conditions must also be provided to a pregnant student.

Lactation Space Locations

PGCC provides students and employees with access to lactation spaces that are private, functional, clean, secure, and safe. All spaces are equipped with seating, a table, and electrical outlets.  Nursing parents will need to provide their own pump.  All lactation space users are expected to clean up after each use.

Lactation spaces are in the following locations:

  • Center for Health Studies, 2nd floor - Largo Campus*
  • Lanham Hall, 1st floor – Largo Campus*
  • University Town Center, Lower Level*
  • Laurel College Center, room 514
