The Service-Learning Office supports faculty, students, and community partner organizations in identifying and implementing Service-Learning projects. Service-Learning combines volunteer service with classroom instruction, focusing on critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility.

The Service-Learning Program supports student learning through meaningful service experiences that enable faculty and students to have a positive impact on the community and address real community needs.

Primary Goals

  • Enable students to practice skills and apply classroom knowledge through related service experiences.
  • Provide student assistance to community agencies and to the people served by the agencies.
  • Provide training, support and service-learning development opportunities for faculty and students.
  • Promote, manage and implement the Service-Learning Faculty Institute and Fellow Program and graduate faculty members as Service-Learning Fellows each year.
