The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program at Prince George's Community College (PGCC) offers employment opportunities for students deemed eligible after they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
FWS allows students with financial needs to earn money to help pay for educational-related expenses. Employment opportunities for the FWS program are limited.
Important: Interested students should ensure they have completed the 2024-25 FAFSA and Federal Work-Study applications.

Attending Virtual Orientation
All Federal Work-Study participants, whether new or returning, must attend a mandatory virtual orientation. This session is essential for all students, regardless of their previous experience with the FWS program.
Purpose of Federal Work-Study
At PGCC, the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program offers another option for real-world learning. Work experience adds value to a student's education and, over time, helps develop professional traits that enhance academic and career success. This hands-on work experience enriches students' education and cultivates professional skills that boost academic and career success.
FWS allows students to work on-campus and in local communities, fostering leadership abilities. Those participating in the PGCC Federal Work-Study program may add this work experience to their resume.
Program Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Federal Work-Study program, students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Student Financial Aid Office. Eligibility requirements also require that participants be enrolled in at least six credits and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. Failure to meet these criteria will result in program ineligibility or immediate termination if employed.
Student employees are not entitled to college benefits available to part-time or full-time staff. Those ineligible for student employment can explore other job opportunities through the Equity, Culture, and Talent Department.
