Many of our students take only a class or two at PGCC. Some of them wish to earn credits for their home institution; others want to take a single class to boost their skills or try something new. Whatever your reason, we'll make sure you earn credits and have the best experience possible.

Students Earning Credit for Their Home Institution

Steps to Follow

1. Figure out if the courses you take at PGCC will transfer to your home institution.

  • If you attend college in the state of Maryland, visit the Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities (ARTSYS) to find Prince George's Community College courses that will transfer to Maryland colleges and universities.
  • If you attend a college outside the state of Maryland, check with your host institution regarding the transferability of the course(s) you wish to take before registering.

2. Complete the application for admission (Bladen Hall, Room 125). If you have never attended Prince George’s Community College, keep in mind you can also complete an online application.

3. Go to Academic Advising (Bladen Hall, Room 124) to enroll in classes. If you are matriculated at another college, you must bring an official or unofficial copy of your transcript(s) for proof of college-level coursework.

4. If you do not have your transcript(s), you must take a placement test (Bladen Hall, Room 100). For more information, see the Testing Center.

Non-Degree-Seeking Students

If you come to PGCC to update your job skills, enrich yourself, or explore a new career field, you must still be admitted in the same manner as any degree-seeking student. You must also meet any course prerequisites.

Steps to Follow

1. See specific course descriptions in Chapter 9 of the college's catalog to determine the requirements for the courses that interest you.

2. Meet with a Recruitment Coordinator.

3. Submit the application for admission.

5. Clearly identify yourself as a non-degree-seeking student on the application for admission, under Program of Study.

6. After you apply, you will receive an email invitation to join Owl Link, the college’s web-based computer system. The email will include instructions to help you sign in and become familiar with Owl Link services.
