Program Description

The Construction Management, A.A.S program prepares students for careers in construction management, such as in general and specialty contracting, design-build firms and construction companies. Students learn how to interpret plans and specifications, estimate material and labor costs, and prepare schedules for a construction project. Additionally, they develop the communication, management and technical problem-solving skills necessary to manage complex construction projects.

Graduates of the Construction Management Program will be able to:

  • Interpret plans and specifications for a construction project.
  • Estimate material and labor costs for a construction project.
  • Schedule a construction project.
  • Apply organizational, technological, planning, and financial tools in construction project management.
  • Utilize effective communication, decision making, and leadership skills in solving problems on a job site.

Transferability

Credit earned at any public institution in the state shall be transferable to any other institution if the:

  • Credit is from a college or university parallel course or program;
  • Grades in the block of courses transferred average 2.00 or higher; and
  • Acceptance of the credit is consistent with the policies of the receiving institution governing students following the same program. Refer to ARTSYS at artweb.usmd.edu and the receiving institution's catalog to select transferable courses.
