EVT-300 Event Planning Certificate I

This course is for individuals seeking to enter the world of event planning. Students will gain workable knowledge of the field, learn event planning fundamentals, become familiar with different types of events (social, corporate, cultural, etc.), and start to develop creative event themes and concepts. Prerequisite: Students must finish Parts I and II to obtain a Certificate of Completion.

Learning Outcomes

  • Receive a workable crash course in event planning knowledge.
  • Learn how to explain key concepts and principles of event planning.
  • Explore different events (corporate, social, cultural, etc.).
  • Develop creative event themes and concepts.
  • Create detailed event budgets and implement cost-control strategies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential venues for different events.
  • Learn the importance and how-tos of functional event aesthetics, layouts, and designs.

EVT-301 Event Planning Certificate II

This course expands on the knowledge and concepts introduced in EVT-300. Upon successful completion, you will have a workable understanding of food and beverage costs, audiovisual concepts for planners, and legal issues.

  • Become familiar with negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
  • Employ best practices for ensuring vendors meet deadlines and deliver quality services.
  • Develop marketing strategies for event promotions.
  • Learn how to utilize social media, emails, and other marketing channels to reach audiences.
  • Design promotional materials and campaigns for events.

Hospitality Leadership Certificate (Micropathway)

Earn credentials and gain skills to become a mid-level supervisor or manager within the hospitality industry. You can also earn a certificate and an associate's degree in hospitality services management.

HSM-655 ServSafe® Certification

This course provides an overview of food microbiology principles, food-borne diseases, standards enforced by food service regulatory agencies, and safety measures to prevent food-borne diseases and other microbiological problems. It also describes the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. Note: Completing this course provides an opportunity to test for a ServSafe® certification.

TVL-306 Travel and Tourism Certificate, Part 1

This course provides a working knowledge of expectations in the travel industry working with hotels, airlines, cruises, and other industry partners. Learn the fundamentals of geography for travel agents and how to use online techniques for traveling. This course includes offsite visits to hotels and travel and tourism agencies within the region. Prerequisite: Students must finish Parts I and II to obtain a Certificate of Completion.

TVL-307 Travel and Tourism Certificate, Part II

This course expands on the knowledge and concepts introduced in TVL-306. Learn the fundamentals of travel sales, marketing techniques, and how to package tours and cruises. This course includes offsite visits to hotels and travel and tourism agencies within the region.
