The Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician program provides basic EKG knowledge and skills requirements. Students learn about the electrical events that generate the different waves on the EKG. These waveforms enable the students to identify and understand the normal 3, 5, and 12 lead EKG. This course explores most common disturbances and life-threatening cardiac rhythm in patients. The identification of pacemaker rhythm, Holter monitoring, and stress monitoring will be briefly introduced along with basic patient care. This is a 12-week course with Zoom classes every Saturday and in-lab skills classes on Wednesday in the evening hours.
