Prince George's Community College uses the Microsoft Office Suite programs to prepare students for entry-level jobs that require them to quickly produce reports, memos, presentations, databases, and spreadsheets. Microsoft Office is a set of interrelated desktop applications used by most businesses. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint are the most commonly used software programs.
Computer Skills for Business Applications Certificate Program
This five-course program is designed to recognize a student's achievement in using a personal computer for general business applications using the Microsoft Office Suite, including applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and data management. The following courses are required to earn the certificate:
- Introduction to Personal Computers or Introduction to Windows 10.
- MS Word.
- MS Excel.
- MS Access and an Advanced Office Suite Course.
- MS PowerPoint.
Entry-Level Administrative Assistant Certificate Program
This four-course program recognizes students' achievement in Microsoft Office's procedures and practices. You will learn to provide support by conducting research, handling information requests, performing clerical functions, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. The following courses are required to earn the certificate:
- Applied office skills or computer skills for the workplace.
- MS Word.
- MS Excel.
- MS PowerPoint.
TEC-400 Introduction to Personal Computers with Windows 10
This course is designed to teach the student the most basic computer skills needed for daily computer operation in a workplace setting in Windows 10. Topics include mouse and keyboarding techniques, navigating around the desktop and within programs, demonstrating the types of programs most commonly used in a work setting, and basic techniques for opening, creating, editing, and saving documents.

TEC-401 Applied Office Skills and Procedures
Administrative assistants and secretaries are some of the most in-demand workers in today's business world. Learn how to provide support by making daily routine plans, using phone etiquette, utilizing filing systems, handling information requests, performing clerical functions, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. You will be taught how to understand and manage Outlook and email basics with administrative skills.

This is the second in the series of courses designed to provide instruction on using the more advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2019. Topics include calculating data with advanced formulas, organizing worksheets and table data, presenting data using charts, analyzing data using pivot tables, slicers, pivot charts, and more.

TEC-406 Introduction to PowerPoint 2019 (0.9 CEUs)
This continuing education course is designed for business professionals and office support staff pursuing professional development training in business technology and provides instruction using Microsoft PowerPoint 2019. Topics include presentation themes, slide layouts, outline view, spelling check, AutoCorrect, thesaurus, Smart Lookup, charts and chart tools, and skills presentation.
