Prince George’s Community College 60-hour course meets the Maryland Real Estate Commission’s requirement for those who want to earn a Maryland real estate sales license. The College does not administer the licensure examination for salespersons or brokers. Candidates must be registered for the examination through PSI Examination Services. Course Description
RES-536 Real Estate Principles and Practices for Salespersons 6.0 CEUs
This course introduces students to the real estate business. Students explore careers, professional organizations, and the advantages and disadvantages of real estate investments. Students learn about various aspects of real estate, including forms of ownerships, contracts, titles, brokers’ agreements, and financing options for purchasing real estate. Also, students study federal, state, and local laws related to fair housing, environmental concerns, and other rights and responsibilities of various stakeholders in real property. Other topics addressed include land descriptions, real estate appraising, the closing process, and property management. Lastly, students will calculate acreage, taxes, commissions, mortgages, etc.
- This course satisfies the 60-hour educational requirement for the real estate salesperson license.
- To comply with state law and be eligible to sit for the Maryland Real Estate Salesperson Licensing exam, the Maryland Real Estate Commission requires students to attend 100% of each commission-approved course. A student who arrives late, leaves early, or misses a session will be required to make up the time in 3-hour time slots; no exceptions. A maximum of six hours can be made up and arrangements for makeups must be made with the course instructor.
- Students must earn 75% or higher on the final exam to pass RES-305. Only then are they eligible to sit for the Maryland Real Estate Salesperson Licensing exam.

Tuesday/Thursday class will be taught remotely; final exam will be held at the Largo campus. Students are required to have computer cameras engaged during entire class time to verify attendance as required by the Maryland Real Estate Commission.

Online Classes: Learn on Your Own Time Online
Students taking an online class can access course content 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and engage in discussions using Canvas with their instructors and fellow learners. Instructors will set deadlines and due dates for assignments, tests, projects, and other coursework.
Remote Classes: Learn in Real Time
Students taking a remote class will meet online via the Canvas platform at scheduled times. Students will access learning materials, view assignments, and participate in discussions via Canvas.
