Peggy Yates, Professor of Theatre - Coordinator of Theatre

Peggy Yates is a professor and theatre coordinator at Prince George’s Community College. She graduated with a B.A. in communication from Seton Hall University and an M.F.A. in acting from the Catholic University of America. Prior to her appointment at Prince George's Community College, Professor Yates' teaching credits included The University of Maryland Baltimore County, Howard Community College, The Theatre Lab, and Bethesda Academy of the Performing Arts.

A two-time Helen Hayes nominated actor, she has performed on television, on stages across the United States, and at local theatres such as Ford’s Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Metro Stage, Rep Stage, Olney Theatre Center, Theatre J, and the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre.

Professor Yates is a member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers, the Actors Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and served for five years as the Coordinator of the Musical Theatre Initiative for Region 2, Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Directing credits include the PGCC productions of To Be Young Gifted and Black by Lorraine Hansberry, The Exonerated by Jessica Blank and Eric Jensen, 8 by Dustin Lance Black, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, for which she received a Certificate of Merit in directing from KCACTF, and her original children’s play with music, Bounce! A Peter Rabbit Remix. 

Rob Berry, Professor of Theatre - Academic Technical Director and Coordinator of Entertainment Technology

Rob Berry is an associate professor and the Academic Technical Director and Coordinator of Entertainment Technology at Prince George's Community College. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Rob has been a student of the performing arts for over 40 years and has worked professionally as an actor, director, and scenographer. Rob is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, a technophile, and enjoys building and tinkering with all aspects of technology, taking apart gizmos from an early age and reassembling them, much to the chagrin of his family. He is an avid reader of history, sci-fi, plays, and hard-boiled detective novels (which he enjoys reading aloud). Most importantly, Rob has had the honor of teaching at the College for the last 10 years, where he is continually amazed and humbled by the desire and abilities of his students.

Gary Raymond Fry, Jr., Professor of Theatre - Managing Director of Student Programming

Gary Raymond Fry, Jr. is the managing director of student programming in the Humanities Department and an assistant professor of humanities at Prince George’s Community College (PGCC). He is a native of Prince George's County and an alumnus of PGCC, graduating with an Associate of Arts in general studies. Dr. Fry began his employment with PGCC in 1996 and continued his employment while earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in interdisciplinary studies from the New York Institute of Technology through a hybrid program. He continued his studies at the New York Institute of Technology, earning a Master’s in communication arts while working to achieve the Theatre and Entertainment Technology Certificate at Prince George's Community College. Recently, Dr. Fry completed his Doctor of Philosophy in interdisciplinary studies and a graduate certificate in creative writing through Union Institute and University in Cincinnati through their moderate residency program. 

Demonstrating his interdisciplinary training, Dr. Fry began working as a theatre technician in the Queen Anne Fine Arts Building at PGCC. In 1998, he was promoted to Supervisor of Theatre Operations while working as an adjunct for the College. In 2009, he opted to apply for a full-time faculty position with PGCC. He began teaching full-time in the fall of 2010 in the humanities teaching theatre, public relations, and communications courses. Over the past 27 years, Dr. Fry has worked extensively in the regional professional theatre industry in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region as a theatrical lighting designer, technical director, sound designer, and master electrician.

He has also directed several plays which received reviews in the Washington Post and other periodicals, including the Washingtonian. Dr. Fry maintains memberships in several creative and performing arts organizations, including serving on the board of directors of many. Dr. Fry is now pleased to serve Prince George's Community College's Humanities Department in managing all student programming in the College's new Center for the Performing Arts.
