Daniel Collins-Cavanaugh—known to his students as “Prof. Dan”—is a professor of philosophy and the Philosophy Area Coordinator for the Humanities Department at Prince George’s Community College. He holds B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in philosophy. Dr. Collins-Cavanaugh taught his first class for the College as an adjunct faculty member in the then-named Philosophy Department during the fall 2000 semester. In the fall of 2008, he was hired as a full-time member.
Dr. Collins-Cavanaugh previously taught at numerous institutions in the Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh areas, including George Washington University, University of Maryland Global Campus, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Thiel College, and Carlow College. His scholarly achievements include book chapters on the salary cap in Football and Philosophy and on authentic fatherhood in Fatherhood: Philosophy for Everyone. He is also an enthusiastic Star Wars fan.
