LARGO, Md. (September 19, 2024) — The Prince George’s Community College Foundation will host the 2024 Partners for Success Gala on Friday, October 18, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. The event will feature live entertainment, gourmet dining, networking, and the Equity, Excellence, and Elevation Awards honoring Howard Stone, Mary Hopkins Navies, and Robert Malone. This year's theme, "A Legacy of Commitment: Empowering People, Building Strong Communities," aligns with the College’s 65th anniversary. Hosts include Dr. Destiny-Simone Ramjohn, Maritha Gay, and Jeff McFarland.
Partners for Success is a premier event designed to support the Foundation’s mission by raising funds for scholarships that directly benefit students. These scholarships are crucial in helping PGCC students achieve their educational goals and contribute to the community's overall success.
"At Prince George’s Community College, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed," Dr. Falecia D. Williams, president of Prince George’s Community College, said. "The Partners for Success Gala is a testament to the power of community and collaboration in transforming lives through education. The funds raised will provide critical scholarships that enable our students to overcome financial barriers and pursue their dreams."
Dena Wilson, executive director of the PGCC Foundation, echoed Dr. Williams’ sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the community’s involvement in this event. "The Gala is not just an evening of celebration—it's a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. The support we receive from our partners and donors is vital in making education accessible and equitable for all our students. We look forward to an evening where we can collectively contribute to the future of the community."
Pepco, an Exelon Company, is the 65th anniversary sponsor; Educational Systems Federal Credit Union is the President’s Society sponsor; and PSA Insurance & Financial Services, MGM National Harbor, along with alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the College, are the Dean’s List sponsors.
