LARGO, MD (June 11, 2024) — The Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) Nursing Program has ranked highest in the annual National Council of States Board of Nursing (NCBSN) NCLEX-RN report by Mountain Measurement, Inc. for 2023-2024. The report is used to evaluate nursing programs based on the pass rate of graduates taking the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for the first time. The PGCC Nursing Program achieved a 100% pass rate for its graduates, ranking the College’s program number one among nursing programs within the state of Maryland, other programs of a similar type, and compared to other nursing programs across the United States and its territories.
PGCC Nursing Program graduates also ranked highest in the lowest average number of questions taken for the exam. With a total of 88 questions, compared to the national average of 94, PGCC graduates quickly demonstrated their knowledge and competence among others in comparison groups.
“Our graduates outperformed when compared to the state and national RN programs,” Vivian P. Kuawogai, PGCC Nursing Department chair, said. “The data is clear, as it demonstrates the ROI to our community. We are proud of this achievement.”
Upon completing the PGCC Nursing Program, graduates can take the exam and earn an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree. Over the past two years, PGCC’s RN graduates have consistently performed above NCLEX’s requirement benchmarks for first-time testers.
Introduced in 1968, the PGCC Nursing Program is a regionally leading program that aims to educate and transform nursing students into caring professionals who meet community health needs and adapt to the global industry. The program is located in the state-of-the-art Center for Health Studies building at the College’s main Largo campus, offering immersive learning experiences with simulation labs and advanced clinical care equipment. More information about the PGCC Nursing Program is available here.
