Prince George’s Community College to Host NJCAA’s Region 20 Men's Basketball Tournament as the Top Competitors

LARGO, Md. (February 23, 2024) Prince George's Community College will host the 2024 National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) Region 20 Division III Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, February 24, and Sunday, February 25, at the Novak Field House. The PGCC Owls (19-7) are currently undefeated in Region 20 divisional play and will face Penn Highlands, ranked number four in the division, in the tournament’s opening game on Saturday at noon.
“We are very proud of our student-athletes,” Jo Ann Rogers Todaro, Prince George’s Community College athletics director, said. “Their hard work and dedication have paid off this season and we can’t wait to support them at the upcoming tournament.”
As the hosting team, PGCC’s Owls will welcome a trio of colleges from Western Pennsylvania Butler County Community College, Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
The last time PGCC played against Penn Highlands was in November 2023; the game was a back-and-forth battle, with the Owls winning 99-94. The Owls have won six Region 20 Division III championships since moving to Division III in 2011. Prince George’s Community College is currently ranked number 10 in the NJCAA Division III national rankings.
Mr. Justin Douds, Prince George’s Community College's vice president for Policy and General Counsel, will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the tip-off of the semi-final games on Saturday, February 24.
