Prince George's Community College Partners with Local Nonprofit for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Assistance
LARGO, Md. (July 26, 2023) – Prince George's Community College (PGCC) announced today its partnership with a non-profit organization, Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness (MCCFW), to provide public student loan information and offer resources to faculty and staff. If you have federal student school loans, you may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and the limited Public Service Loan Forgiveness waiver.
PGCC is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. This program cancels the remaining balance of a borrower’s debt after they have been in repayment for a minimum of 120 months while working for a qualifying employer.
MCCFW founder Tisa Silver Canady helps student loan borrowers develop a strategy to eliminate their debt. MCCFW offers employee workshops on PSLF and one-time student debt relief programs. It also provides individual support to review loans and apply for student loan benefits.
Over $1.2 million in student debt has been canceled since MCCFW began working with qualified PGCC employees.
Borrowers are encouraged to contact the Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness at mccfw.org/contact for more information about public service student loan forgiveness.
