PRINCE GEORGE’S COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION AND CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER AT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
LARGO, Md. (December 15, 2022) – On November 29, members of the Prince George’s Community College Student Government Association (SGA) and Campus Activities Board (CAB) gathered at the Dukes Student Center to assemble more than 200 arts and crafts kits for pediatric patients. Many children and families will spend their holidays at the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital this year. The donated kits will help bring joy and give children a reason to believe this holiday season. Friendship bracelets, flat rock art supplies, weaving kits, and wooden art kits were included in each of the children’s gift packages.
“I was pleased by the number of volunteers that participated during the event,” said D’kayla Hanson, SGA senator for club relations. “I felt very fortunate to be in an environment that allows me to give back to my local community."
"I loved participating in the children's activities kit project,” said Michal Belle, vice president of CAB. “I think too often we forget [about] the importance of creativity. In our greatest moments in life, we look to any and all forms of art to capture our memories. We are a masterpiece in the making and we will always be artists of our stories."
We are PGCC proud of our student volunteers for their tireless efforts on this special community service project. Their giving spirit amplifies the College’s vision to engage with our community and provide a dynamic and transformative learning experience – in and out of the classroom. Job well done!
