LARGO, Md. (May ­­­8, 2020) – The Prince George’s Community College Board of Trustees has announced the top three candidates for the ninth president of the College. They are Dr. Larry D. Johnson, Jr., president of Phoenix College of the Maricopa District in Phoenix, Ariz.; Dr. Johnny M. Moore, president of Pierpont Community & Technical College in Fairmont, W. Va.; and Dr. Falecia D. Williams, president of the West and Downtown Campuses of Valencia College in Orlando, Fla. The College’s current president, Dr. Charlene M. Dukes, is retiring.

The three candidates are scheduled to visit Prince George’s Community College individually on Monday, May 11; Wednesday, May 13; and Friday, May 15. Each will participate in a day of virtual meetings and interviews that will begin with an 8 a.m. meeting with Dr. Dukes. The schedule includes a 9:45 a.m. meeting with the College’s Senior Team, an 11:30 a.m. Virtual Town Hall with students, a 1:00 p.m. meeting with constituents and union leaders, a 2:00 p.m. Virtual Town Hall with faculty and staff, a 4:00 p.m. Virtual Town Hall with the College’s external community including elected officials, and a 5:30 p.m. interview with the College’s Board of Trustees. 

According to Mr. Sidney L. Gibson, chairman of the Prince George’s Community College Board of Trustees, the visits and meetings will be compliant with the guidance of local, state, and federal authorities regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Board anticipates selection of the ninth president after completion of the cycle of campus visits,” said Gibson. “We have consulted our stalwart, President Charlene Dukes, who has reaffirmed her commitment to remain at the helm until her successor is available. We extend our ongoing thanks and appreciation to Dr. Dukes for her extraordinary tenure of accomplishment and the stellar leadership she has provided during this unprecedented period in our history.”
