LARGO, Md. (November 26, 2019) – Prince George’s Community College has joined GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on December 3, GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season.
Prince George’s Community College alumni, students, and employees are encouraged to be a part of something monumental and support the college’s “Owl Give” annual giving campaign. They can also give to the “Take a Seat” or “Pathway to Success” initiatives to support the Center for Performing Arts.
“We are excited to join with the College and surrounding community and participate in the seventh annual GivingTuesday,” said Brenda Mitchell, executive director of the Office of Institutional Advancement, Prince George’s Community College. “This is an opportunity to support our students and community, as well as inspire a season of year-long giving in Prince George’s County. Our goal is to raise $10,000, and with the support of our partners, donors, friends, and family I am confident that we will exceed that goal.”
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
