LARGO, Md. (December 10, 2019) –Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) exceeded its goal to raise $10,000 on GivingTuesday, raising a total of $11,519. Known as the global day of giving, GivingTuesday is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration and kicks off the holiday giving season.

Prince George’s Community College alumni, students, employees, and community members supported GivingTuesday through the College’s “Owl Give” annual giving campaign. They were also able to give to the “Take a Seat” or “Pathway to Success” initiatives to support the Center for Performing Arts. Seventy percent of this year’s total dollars came from faculty and staff.

“We are thrilled that we exceeded our goal and that so many faculty, staff, students, and community members joined us for this year’s GivingTuesday movement,” said Brenda Mitchell, executive director of the Office of Institutional Advancement. “This was a great way to bring the community together, support our students, and kick off a season of giving.”

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
