PGCC Names Dr. Clayton Railey as Executive Vice President and Provost for Teaching, Learning, and Student Success.

LARGO, Md. (January 31, 2018) - Prince George's Community College (PGCC) has named Dr. Clayton Railey as executive vice president and provost for Teaching, Learning, and Student Success. Dr. Railey assumed his new role on January 16, 2018. In his new role, he will provide leadership, direction and oversight to the college's teaching, learning, and student success area, which is responsible for serving the holistic learning needs of students.
"I am thrilled to join Prince George's Community College in this role," said Dr. Railey. "Through its broad spectrum of learning opportunities, the college continues to transform the lives of county residents, and I look forward to aligning my experience in higher education to continue that mission," he added.
Dr. Clayton Railey holds an undergraduate degree in economics and English from Dickinson College and a doctorate degree in English (English Poetry) from Vanderbilt University. He entered the Society of Jesus ("The Jesuits") and was ordained a priest in 1987. Dr. Railey left the Jesuits in 1996 to teach English and philosophy at Chesapeake College. In addition to teaching, Dr. Railey has held several administrative positions including dean for arts and humanities at Delaware County Community College, provost at Bucks County Community College, and most recently vice president for Workforce and Academic programs at Chesapeake College.
Dr. Railey was born in Washington, D.C. and has studied in Philadelphia, Baltimore, St. Louis, Berkeley, California, Nashville, Tennessee, Hong Kong, China, and Munich, Germany.
