LARGO, Md. (January 19, 2018) - Prince George's Community College is dedicated to ensuring that all students are afforded an opportunity to pursue and achieve their educational goals. The college serves a diverse population, many of whom benefit from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program that offers temporary protection from deportation to undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.

Despite unthinkable odds, these students work hard to pursue an education. They have families to support; they are career changers; they are single parents; and they are heads of households. Their diverse backgrounds add value to the community college experience. They represent the hope and promise of the American Dream.

Since its inception six years ago, DACA has allowed nearly 800,000 young men and women nationwide to support their families, attend school, become homeowners, and pursue their dreams (Source: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). DACA students need our support to compete at colleges and universities and become productive and contributing members of society.

Prince George's Community College believes that everyone has the right to an education, and we are dedicated to keeping our programs aligned with the changing economy and the needs of our community, including the undocumented youth who arrived in the United States as minors.

We thank the Maryland Congressional Delegation for their continued support of those affected by DACA. We stand with those students and are committed to continuing to provide equitable paths for our students to realize their dreams.
