The Office of Government Relations and Community Outreach and the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership hosted the “Your Voice. Your Vote” Hybrid Voter Education Panel Event. The event educated and engaged Prince George’s Community College students, faculty, and staff on the importance of voting and the impact of civic participation. Attendees gained valuable insights into how their voices can shape the democratic process.

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, Dr. Gavette R. Duncan attended Berwyn Heights Elementary School's Hello Husky Night, representing Prince George's Community College. The event fostered strong community connections by bringing together families and staff from Berwyn Heights Elementary School, and local residents for an evening of music, games, and resources. This community outreach event allowed for direct engagement with the community in a fun, welcoming environment.

On Monday, August 26, 2024, Dr. Sherrie Johnson, Dr. Gavette R. Duncan, Dr. Ashanti Bryant Foster, and Margaret A. Shrager attended the Higher Education Roundtable, hosted by the Maryland State Department of Education, Ibis Group, and Whiteboard Advisors. The event was inspired by the powerful literacy documentary The Right to Read, that is sparking important conversations around literacy and education.

The Office of Government Relations and Community Outreach, along with members from the 65th Anniversary Community Involvement Subcommittee, the Education Department, the Community Liaison Group, and the College-wide Forum Community Involvement and Outreach Committee, visited Lake Arbor Elementary School for Read Across America Week! The group had an opportunity to read books to kindergarten, first-, second-, and third-grade students.
